I just finished my last life story interview with this amazing guy Ken Cole. We rushed to get them all done because of his terminal cancer diagnosis. Listening to someone over days’ time share their story and reflect back on their life—the good, the bad, the beautiful—while living in the shadow of death was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before.

He said this to me yesterday, “I’m noticing things I never noticed before. I’m thankful for the little things I used to take for granted like the taste of food, a friend coming over, getting to shake hands or hug someone, going to Meijer, getting dressed in the morning.” Let us all “notice” the “little things” a little more today.
