My husband Michael and I spent some time exploring and learning about the rich history of Marathon Village in Nashville today (and trying to figure out how to use an antique wall telephone—what piece goes where?!). What an incredible place to shop local wares, do some wine tasting and walk the historic halls of the first factory to totally manufacture automobiles in the southern United States and the only one to do so until General Motors made the Saturn in 1990.
Marathon Village is the perfect blend of past and present! The owners have done such a great job of preserving the rich history and story of this place. You can step inside an old Western Union Telegraph Office to have a look around, dig around Antique Archaeology owned by Mike Wolfe of American Pickers or stroll through a modern art gallery.
